Module 5 Home Inspection Report

If you wish to become a Home Inspector, Module 5, or it's equivalent is mandatory as part of the requirements to become licensed in New York State.

You must utilize the 6 page H.I.F. Form in Module 5. It is a writable PDF Software program and is the core of our Module 5 Home Inspection Report.

Page 1 is the Cover Page for the Entire Report- It is mandatory to be included in the report

We do not require you to include a pre-inspection agreement for the Module 5 report, however, a signed copy of the pre-inspection report should be part of every REAL Home Inspection Report

For Module 5, the Form Given to you by the Module 5 Instructor-Proctor

The 6 page H.I.F. (Housing Inspection Foundation) Report Form must be filled the form out completely.

You will be given a report card after you submit the report to the school.

We request you submit the report to us on or before day 4. We will give you a report card. If there are errors on your report, to receive credit for

the report, you must fill out the report with all corrections to receive credit for the report. This is mandatory.

The 6 Page H.I.F. (HOUSING INSPECTION FOUNDATION) Form is in the Home Inspection Tools Page. It must be used as part of Module 5.

We ask that you remember the following when writing your report:

THE GOOD - Positive Items found and why, explain these in detail
THE BAD - Negative Items found and why, explain in detail
THE UGLY - Items requiring repairs immediately
The 3 "S" Rule- Safety, Security and Saleability (Aka- Soundness- as per the US Dept. of HUD Regulations)

N.Y.S. SOP and COE:

It is not required to include the SOP and COE for the purposes of Module 5, but in real practice it is mandatory you include a copy of the N.Y.S. SOP and COE. You are required to follow the Code of Ethics and Standard of Practice. You should show the client what they are. We have a copy in our web site and it is also available on the state web site.

If you are doing a Module 5 Home Inspection Class, the Saturday and / or Sunday Home Inspection Reports are due on Tuesday by 4pm.

Each home your complete must be signed and submitted in writing to the school. You will be required to make corrections as needed,

and as determined by your report card. If you have any questions, call Bill Merrell regarding any question you have in the report card.

Re-writing the inspection report and re-submitting it to the school for review is mandatory

THE LAST PAGE WILL BE THE DECLARATION PAGE AS A MODULE 5 STUDENT. The Declaration Page is used and must be filled out and signed.
